Spinal Cord Stimulation – Nevro Senza SCS HF10 Therapy

Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) is one of many treatments offered by Weill Cornell Pain Medicine as part of our individualized and multidisciplinary programs of pain management. SCS systems work by applying small electrical impulses to the spinal cord to alleviate pain.

SCS Treatment Options

We now offer the Nevro Senza SCS system HF10 Therapy as one of our SCS treatment options. The Senza SCS system uses electrical impulses to alleviate chronic back pain, neck pain, as well as pain in the extremities. After 5 years of expanding adoption and use in Europe and Australia, the Nevro Senza HF10 Therapy was approved by the FDA for use in the United States in May 2015. Weill Cornell Pain Medicine was happy to be one of the earliest adopters of this SCS system. As of 2015, HF10 therapy is the only SCS system with FDA approval to deliver pain relief without paresthesia (a constant tingling sensation that is the basis of SCS), and the only FDA-approved SCS system that can be used without restrictions on motor vehicle operation.

Chronic Pain Relief

Our adoption of Senza SCS system builds on Weill Cornell Pain Medicine’s existing experience with spinal cord stimulation treatments for the relief of chronic pain. These therapies, and all the treatments we offer, are part of our multidisciplinary approach to pain management, and give our pain medicine physicians another important tool in designing individualized treatment and pain management programs for each of our patients. Since we promote an individualized approach to pain management, SCS and the HF10 therapy may or may not be the right option for you.
