At the AOSpine North America Fellows Forum Meeting this week in Banff, Alberta, Dr. Rodrigo Navarro-Ramirez was awarded the prize for “Best Basic Research Oral Presentation.” The work (“Total disc replacement using tissue-engineered intervertebral discs: In vivo outcome in a canine model”) had previously been selected as one of the top ten abstracts presented at the forum.

The abstract presented by Dr. Navarro-Ramirez was based on research conducted by the spine team led by Roger Härtl, MD, in New York and Lawrence J. Bonassar, PhD, in Ithaca. Other members of the team include Jorge Mojica Santiago, BS; Yu Moriguchi, MD, PhD; Brenton Pennicooke, MD, MSc; Connor Berlin, BS; and Peter Grunert, MD.
